For really large stack sizes, you can combine these - a legendary planter using a fertilised field on the surface can produce stack sizes up to 9. They are claimed, and I tried marking them for dumping. You can also fertilise shallow underground plots, which again is more work to produce and maintain the stocks of fertiliser. Dwarf Fortress update adds babies for everything, and stops >Dwarf Fortress update adds babies. To get reliable large stack sizes from farming, you will need to farm surface plants on the surface, or underground plants in the caverns, both of which involve at least a little bit of work securing and protecting the area. The Steam version has also changed underground farming to put a negative effect on shallow underground soil compared to the cavern levels, so farming plump helmets just one or two levels under the surface doesn't work as well as farming on the cavern floors. This opens, then closes the floor hatch, allowing the waste. When waste accumulates or something miasma generating appears, set it to be dumped, then order the lever to be pulled twice. Connect that hatch to a lever, and designate a garbage dump over it. Having dwarves with a high skill plant your crops and gather wild plants helps, and for farming fertilising the fields with potash will also help. Set up your refuse room, with a center pit down 2 levels, and cover it with a floor hatch. From a game-data standpoint, it is easy to create a new stack by copying things like a spoil timer, but combining stacks with different spoil timers and such is more work.įor Farming/Herbalism, and their various downstream industries like brewing and cooking, this means that the initial size of the stack when the plant is harvested is very important, because it makes the next steps more efficient. Click the rightmost icon in the bottom-center of the screen and choose to dump items (the trashcan). This has been the case for at least a decade, and probably for the entire history of the game it does show up sometimes as a suggested thing to change. So I tried something else : 1) Create new game from scratch, defaut setting, defaut embark (I just add wood to build and to dump stuff to make my try) 2) Immediatly create a large dump zone near the wagon. After many try that made me go crazy, I thought my game was bugged. In case of Artifacts, if the Item is designated to a display case / podest then the item will be delivered there (the designation will still be active after the theft) instead of the dump. Originally posted by Dykarius: Hello, Dump zone didn't worked in my game. :) (My setup for the dump zone is 4x5 with 3 of the 5 over the river over open space.) I just changed it to be just near the edge but not over it and it worked too. So you can go from one stack of Plump Helmets to two stacks of Plump Helmet, but never the other way. Also works in case of stolen Artifacts, were the convicts still keep the loot (which is imo a bug). Whimpy 1:39pm I just managed to get one of my dwarfes to throw some thrash in a river. In Dwarf Fortress, stacks of items can be split, but never combined.
